A Decade of Renewed French Drama Festivals in Malawi
Abstract
The importance of drama as extending far beyond its default objective of entertainment is universally acknowledged. It has long been recognized that theatre in Africa fulfills a social role ( Eyoh, 1987 ). Consequently, educational drama on the continent has also emerged as a vital pedagogical tool, fostering creativity and critical thinking among students while addressing socio-cultural issues. Rooted in traditional performance practices, it has evolved through formal and informal educational contexts, particularly in secondary schools and community settings ( Hakib, 2022 ).
