Abstract

This chapter is about an arts-based gender-transformative programme called Brother2Brother (B2B), which I initiated at the University of Malawi in September 2018. It offers a critical reflection on how the programme empowered young people to critically examine their socialisation and to interrogate how these social norms inform masculinities, gender relations, gender violence and sexual behavioural patterns. The chapter discusses the programme&s;s development, offering insights into its ideology, approach and application of arts-based tools. It highlights how these arts-based methodologies empower youth to challenge rigid social norms and consider strategies for promoting a more gender-equitable society.
