African food crisis the relevance of Asian models was a four-year project (2001-2004) funded by Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation and Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). The aim of the project was to learn from and simulate Asian agriculture experiences of intensification. The Centre for Social Research in conjunction with the Department of Sociology at the University of Lund in Sweden conducted the project by collecting historical and other secondary data in Asian countries (Philippines, Indonesia and Taiwan), field work in case study countries and organizing international workshop.
