The central purpose of this research project is to design an Operational Child Protection System in Malawi that protects children from violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect while mitigating the impact of HIV on them. The gol of the research is therefore to support the development of a comprehensive child protection model (including prevention and response services, human resources, multi-sector coordination, infrastructure, data management and financing mechanism) tested at district level by 2014 and 2015 and scaled up nationally by 2016, which is cognisant of the important contribution of the other result areas towards other realization of this system.
