The Department of Disability and UNICEF wanted to gather a detailed understanding of the existing policy and legistration, programing and services, needs and challenges of children with disabilities in malawi. The data collection involved gathering information on day to day lives of children with disabilities through focus group discussions and qualitative interviews of children with disabilities, their caretakers and children who live with a disabled parent or primary caregiver
